Information for Australians and for people around world about spiritually abusive Pastor's within the Christian faith.
1. Pastor's using their position to control or dominate another person.
2. Misusing scripture passages and biblical concepts to override the thoughts, feelings, desires and opinions of others.
3. A Pastor using their position to bully people into confessing.
4. Consider themselves above questioning.
5. People who question a Pastor on what wrong things they have said in a sarcastic way about them or told the Pastor that he said something wrong to the church members during preaching are given labels like they are stupid, a Pastor may make accusations to someone, such as, you are being disrespectful or you are taking this personally. Instead, a Pastor should give wise counsel, and humble constructive counsel.
6. A Pastor is not abusive when they spiritually speak to someone who has an issue in a truthful loving way and confronts sin in a humble gracious way. However, a Pastor is abusive if they seek to shame or discredit others or twists the truth to defend himself and to defame others.
8. It is not abusive when a Pastor uses his best judgement and chooses not to go against your opinion.
For example, if a Pastor uses his opposing view to devalue and demean people, or to demand or bully someone to get his own way.
Summary of the above:
It can be said that spiritual abuse in churches is mainly done by a Pastor, elder, or a Christian organization who use their authority to manipulate, dominate, bully, and intimidate members of a church, in using his own power and control rather than doing things God's way. The oppressor establishes control and domination behaviour by using Bible verses doctrine, personal doctrine or his leadership role as an abusive weapon. This form of abuse can be seen as an excuse to misuse the word of God which can bring about mental and verbal abuse or to use abuse with their authority to shame, punish or control in an ungodly manner.
Beware of Pastor's and believers in Christ Jesus who use false testimony against other believers.
Exodus 20:16 says," You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour."
There have been situations where Pastor's and some believers have used false testimony to make trouble for other believers within their church and personal life. Why? The fact is, these type of people are controlling and would seem to be full of hate for another person or there are others who are believers might betray another believer by giving false witness, simply because they believed something a church said about their friend. Confirmation also comes from Jesus in Matthew 7:15 says, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."
There is a saying, "Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing." this is a good description of a Pastor who is a false prophet. Believers like this are deceitful and can be considered bullies in their preaching, whereby, they bear false witness about people. Also, conformation can be seen Matthew 24:10-11 , where Jesus says, "At that time many will turn away from the faith and will hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive people."
The enemy can place deceitful thoughts into people's minds, such as, the enemy can dwell inside a Pastor or believers minds seeing them becoming false witnesses. For example, there could be believers who make some mistakes in church ministry and a Pastor and believers of a church and friends of the believers decide to use false testimonies to prove a point. THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT A PERSON. NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
The reality is the Lord can be with these people all the time. No matter what the situation may be. For example, the Lord doesn't hate people as false prophets and false believers do. The Lord is our strength and other good things within our lives. Psalm 18:1-2 says, "I love you Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and my horn of my salvation, my stronghold." and Philippians 4:13 says, "I can all things through Christ who strengthens me." To end this reflection Psalm 31:16 it says, "Let your face shine (Lord) on your servant; save people in your unfailing love." THE POWER OF THE LORD'S LOVE, STRENGTH, REFUGE AND BEING OUR SHIELD CAN OVER RIDE ANYTHING THE ENEMY THROWS TOWARDS OUR WAY WITHIN LIFE!
